POLICE OFFICER JUMPS INTO BANKER’S COMPOUND IN PORT HARCOURT, SHOOTS HIM DEAD (BLACK WEDNESDAY)


A police officer attached to the Rivers State Police Command has shot dead a 47-year-old Nwordu, Wisdom Chima in his home in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

Mr. Wisdom Chima Nwordu, a banker with the United Bank of Africa, UBA was killed by the police officer simply identified as Ijabula Jingi (Peter) at his residence #67 Akpa Anaka Kinika Road, Egbelu in Obio/Akpor LGA, Port Harcourt.



His younger brother, Fortune Chinedu Nwordu told TPCN that the incident occurred on Wednesday, the 11th of May, 2022 at about 3:00 am.


He said the police officer (Ijabula Jingi) who hails from Taraba State was providing security for a private school in the area called Early Grip School which shared a fence with the deceased home.

According to him, the officer jumped into the deceased compound to rob him. He added that when the deceased heard a noise within the compound, he called operatives of a local vigilante outfit OSPAC.



He said further that when the OSPAC operative came, the deceased opened the gate for him.

“The OSPAC operative now told my brother to follow one side of the compound while he follows the other side to ascertain what was the cause of the noise. It was while my brother was doing as instructed that the police officer shot him and he died instantly.


“He was arrested by OSPAC and handed over to the police. My older brother’s wife just put to bed two weeks ago. He has four young children.


“We want justice to be served. This particular matter must not be swept under the carpet”.


POLICE OFFICER REMANDED IN PRISON FOR KILLING BANKER IN PORT HARCOURT.


A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded in prison custody, a Police officer attached to Rivers State Police Command, Ijabula Jingi, who allegedly shot 47-year-old Wisdom Nwordu to death, at his residence of Akpa Anaka Kinika, Egbelu, in Obio Akpor local government area of the state.



The suspect who faces one count charge of murder under section 319, CAP 37 of the Criminal Code, was alleged to have jumped into the deceased compound at about 2am 11 May 2022, and shot late Wisdom Nwordu, a banker in the chest.

The presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate Rosemary Ibanibo, ruled that the case file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice, as the court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the matter.


The Court, however, adjourned the case to 5 July 2022, and remanded the suspect in prison custody, pending DPP advice.
